Norwalk Hospital Signs Network Participant Agreement with the Yale New Haven Health System

Norwalk, Conn. - Norwalk Hospital and its associated physician management services organization, Fairfield County Physician Management Corporation, today announced their affiliation with the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS).

Norwalk Hospital joins The Westerly Hospital as the second network participant in the Yale New Haven Health System. The two hospitals remain independent and corporately separate, with no change in governance or transfer of assets.

Norwalk Hospital is a 328-bed private, not-for-profit acute care community hospital located in Fairfield County. Fully accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, the hospital provides outstanding patient care and community health education services. Norwalk Hospital, noted for its commitment to the community, its leadership and its dedicated medical staff, is a teaching affiliate of the Yale University School of Medicine.

“This alliance enables us to strengthen our ability to effectively serve Norwalk and surrounding communities,” stated David Osborne, president and chief executive officer of Norwalk Hospital. “Increased resources will be available for managed care contracting through participation in the Yale New Haven Health Managed Care Network, including access to contract management services, the availability of YNHHS-related health insurance products to our community and area employers and the exploration of other collaborative opportunities to improve local patient services.”

Norwalk Hospital and the Fairfield County Physician Management Corporation join the Yale New Haven Managed Care Network which also includes YNHHS corporate members: Yale-New Haven Hospital, Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital and the Southern New England Physician Hospital Organization, which is associated with The Westerly Hospital.

With over 1,862 participating physicians and six hospitals, the Yale New Haven Health Managed Care Network offers a full range of services to payers and employers including contracting, contract management, claims processing and medical and disease management.

The Yale New Haven Health Managed Care Network was organized by the Yale New Haven Health System, which is one of the largest and most comprehensive integrated health care delivery and financing systems in Southern New England. The system includes a New Haven-based health care network anchored by Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital; a Bridgeport health care network led by Bridgeport Hospital; a Greenwich health care network led by Greenwich Hospital and The Westerly Hospital as a network participant offering a full range of services in Rhode Island and Southeastern Connecticut. Bridgeport Hospital and Greenwich Hospital are each affiliated with—and Yale-New Haven Hospital serves as the primary teaching hospital for—the Yale University School of Medicine.
