Norwalk Hospital joins The Westerly Hospital as the second network participant in the Yale New Haven Health System. The two hospitals remain independent and corporately separate, with no change in governance or transfer of assets. Norwalk Hospital is a 328-bed private, not-for-profit acute care community hospital located in Fairfield County. Fully accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, the hospital provides outstanding patient care and community health education services. Norwalk Hospital, noted for its commitment to the community, its leadership and its dedicated medical staff, is a teaching affiliate of the Yale University School of Medicine. “We are adding to our network a strong hospital and its community of medical professionals which are well recognized for providing outstanding services to the greater Norwalk community,” said Joseph A. Zaccagnino, president and chief executive officer of the Yale New Haven Health System. “Through this new relationship, we are linking together outstanding hospitals and physicians in the critical task of providing high quality, efficient health care.” “This alliance enables us to strengthen our ability to effectively serve Norwalk and surrounding communities,” stated David Osborne, president and chief executive officer of Norwalk Hospital. “Increased resources will be available for managed care contracting through participation in the Yale New Haven Health Managed Care Network, including access to contract management services, the availability of YNHHS-related health insurance products to our community and area employers and the exploration of other collaborative opportunities to improve local patient services.” Peter B. Stovell, M.D., president of Fairfield County Physicians Management Corporation, said “we are very excited about this partnership which will help us provide better medical care to our community.” “Our goal of maintaining quality service is a priority and we believe this strategic partnership is in the best interest of the communities we serve,” added Myra L.
