Yale New Haven Health services that meet the needs of businessYale New Haven Health System is committed to making the best health care easier to use. This includes offering services to employers and payers such as managed care contracting and administrative services, medical management and direct contracting. Direct Contracting Historically, employers and providers have relied on intermediary organizations called insurance companies or payers to administer health insurance programs. It is becoming quite common for employers and providers to work directly with each other and eliminate the dependence on the insurance company as an intermediary. This relationship is called direct contracting. Under this approach, providers assist the employer with developing and establishing a self-funded insurance program with access to a large provider network (such as Yale New Haven Health System) and competitive reimbursement rates. The majority of the Fortune 500 companies in the United States employ some form of direct contracting in their employee health plans. |
