Communications

CommunicationsCommunication is key to an effective disaster response. What is happening? What resources are needed? By whom? Numerous pieces of information need to be quickly and accurately communicated among a variety of organizations and agencies in an emergency. The Center has taken a leadership role in the development of communication strategies and protocols for Connecticut as well as ensuring redundant, consistent and comprehensive communication systems among YNHHS' three member hospitals (Bridgeport , Greenwich and Yale-New Haven).

Electronic surveillance systems

The Center, in collaboration with the Connecticut Department of Public Health and the Hartford Hospital Center of Excellence for Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response, researched syndromic surveillance systems developed elsewhere in the nation and provided leadership in the implementation of a system in multiple hospital locations around the state.
